Australia has a new Prime Minister

Hello World,
Ms Julia Gillard is now officially the Prime Minister of Australia.
What a momentous day for Australia, 24th June 2010 will go down in the History Books!
For the first time in Australian history we will have a woman as the Prime Minister of Australia.
After a night of high drama in the offices of the Australian Labor Party, the then PM Kevin Rudd told the Labor Caucus that he would not contest the ballot that had been arranged between Ms J. Gillard and himself. This meant that there would be no bloodletting and Ms Gillard was elected unopposed as the new leader of the Federal Labor Party effectively handing her the Prime Ministership!
After watching her acceptance speech I can't see that there will be a lot of changes.
She claims that none of the Policies that got K Rudd into hot water will be changed just that she will try to find a consensus path to come to the same outcome!
Hmm now just where did I here that before?
Ms Gillard acknowledging that she was not elected by the people of Australia to be PM declared she will be performing the duties of PM, and she will be calling a General Election later in the Year.
Well it will be a very interesting time in Australia over the next 12 months or so, just when I was starting to get bored with the whole process.
As they say 'A week in politics is a long time' I'm guessing "a day is even longer"
Till next time
O pah
